Celebrated folk-singer blends many traditional influences into mesmerizing sea shanties
(WOONSOCKET, R.I.) – The Museum of Work & Culture, a museum of the Rhode Island Historical Society, is excited to welcome back folk singer Seán Dagher for a sea shanty concert hosted at the museum on Friday, June 20th.
Dagher is an acclaimed singer and multi-instrumentalist from Montréal who is known for blending Celtic, French-Canadian, maritime, and other musical traditions into mesmerizing folk songs that will have you clapping along and stomping your feet. He is most well-known for his YouTube series “Shanty of the Week” and his recordings used in the hit video game Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Dagher has also played with numerous groups, including the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, and he has composed for theatre and audiobooks, with his compositions being performed across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m., with a pre-concert party featuring beer and pizza beginning at 6 p.m. Concert-only tickets are $25 and concert and party tickets are $40. Tickets are currently available on rihs.simpletix.com.
